Data Delights at Knowledge Network: Enriching School Lessons with Data Analysis
At the lecture, I first exposed the lecturer that spoke before me – (the always excellent!) Sašo Dolenc – as anything but Dolenc (in Slovenian, Dolenc or Dolenjec means a person coming from the Dolenjska region). In my presentation that followed, we saw that in Dolenjska you are actually more likely to meet people from the Gorenjska region. Incidentally, people whose surname is Dolenc are most often friends with people whose surname is Oblak. Meanwhile, people like me with the last name Demšar, most often spend our time with those whose surname is Mohorič or Hafner.
We then proceeded to some more serious work, reviewing our experience from the lesson on the topic of comparing countries that we did in Maribor.
Overall, the aim of my Knowledge Network presentation was to showcase the Pumice project, attract new people onboard, but most of all to demonstrate how data analysis can be used to enrich classroom activities. Did it work? Take a look for yourself in the clip below:
